One hour is all Launderette gives you, Monday through Friday from 5 to 6 PM, but they pack a lot into that window. $5 off the snacky bits and plancha burgers on the food side, and half-price beers, cocktails, and wines by the glass. When you consider that Launderette's cocktails are already well-built, half price makes them a genuine steal.
The space on Holly Street in East Austin was a laundromat in a previous life, and the conversion kept some of that character while adding a real kitchen and a wine program that punches hard. The plancha burger is one of the better burgers in the neighborhood, smashed and crispy in the right ways. Get it at $5 off and you're eating really well for not much money.
Launderette happy hour draws a crowd that skews creative and local, the kind of East Austin regulars who've been coming since the place opened. The one-hour window keeps things focused.
