South Congress has gotten expensive, but Güero's happy hour still works like a neighborhood deal. Casa margaritas drop from $9 to $7, signature margaritas from $12 to $10, and domestic and imported beers each come down a dollar, along with $1 off appetizers.
The schedule is the part most people miss: happy hour runs all day Monday, then 3 to 6pm Tuesday through Friday. A full Monday of $7 handshaken margaritas made with fresh-squeezed lime juice is one of the better standing deals on South Congress.
The patio is the play when weather cooperates, and it usually does. The crowd is a mix of tourists who found the right spot and locals who've been coming since the nineties. Pair a casa margarita with queso at a dollar off and let the Oak Garden's live music do the rest. It's simple, it's consistent, and the margaritas are cold.
