Most of Austin's best seafood happy hours sit downtown or on the east side, which is what makes Garbo's worth the drive up Mopac. The lobster spot runs happy hour Tuesday through Friday from 3 to 6pm, and Mondays stretch the whole thing from open to close, 11am to 9pm. The pours are the draw: a $7 Sunset Wine Cooler, $10 froze, and a $10 Garbo's x BOXT rose, with select appetizers running $8 to $20 alongside.
Monday is the day to circle. All-day happy hour at a place that flies its lobster in from the East Coast is not a common offer in North Austin, and a slow late lunch of lobster roll and froze beats most Mondays by a wide margin.
The crowd here comes from Scofield, Wells Branch, and the ranks of lobster roll regulars who've decided the trip is worth it. It's casual, good for families before the evening fills in, and refreshingly free of pretense. Garbo's happy hour is proof that real seafood credibility doesn't have to live downtown to earn a line out the door.
