The bar at Eberly has its own name now, Cedar Tavern, and its own happy hour worth planning around. Every day from open until 7pm: $7 martinis, $5 snacks, and a $10 burger. That's a real martini in one of the most beautiful rooms on South Lamar, built around a century-old carved bar shipped down from New York.
The $10 burger plus $7 martini combo is the order. It reads like a dive bar deal and arrives like a restaurant one, which is the whole charm. The snack list rotates but stays at $5: pimento cheese, fries, a soft pretzel, dill pickle popcorn if you're lucky.
Doors open at 5 on weekdays and 4 on weekends, so the happy hour window covers the whole early evening. Cedar Tavern happy hour pulls a mix of South Lamar regulars, solo bar diners, and people who came to look at the room and stayed for the prices. Come at 5 on a weekday and you can usually walk right in.
