The Crown has been pouring pints near UT campus for long enough that calling it an institution isn't an exaggeration. Happy hour runs daily from 2 to 7 p.m. with $4.50 pints and $17.50 pitchers, and there are rotating daily specials on top of that.
This is a pub in the proper sense. Dark wood, TVs for game days, a menu that serves its purpose, and a bar that stays busy from afternoon through last call at 2 a.m. The crowd is a mix of grad students, professors, and neighborhood regulars who've been coming here for years. It leans toward the kind of place where everyone knows at least one person in the room.
Crown & Anchor happy hour near campus is about cheap pints and familiar ground.
