Twenty floors up on the Marriott Downtown, Zanzibar has the kind of view that would let a lesser bar get away with charging $18 for a rum drink. Instead, they run happy hour Sunday through Thursday from 3 to 6pm with $10 specialty cocktails, $7 drafts, and food that actually makes sense at the price.
The $3 pork sliders are the sleeper hit. Order a few of those alongside $7 jerk chicken wings and $6 grilled pineapple salsa and you've built a full spread for what one cocktail costs at most downtown rooftops. The tiki-influenced cocktail program is legit, and $10 during happy hour is fair for what you're getting.
Zanzibar happy hour draws a downtown crowd that knows the view is free and the drinks are discounted. The vibe runs tropical without trying too hard. It's one of the better rooftop happy hours in Austin, and the five-day window gives you plenty of chances to catch a sunset from up there.
