Half bakery, half cocktail bar, fully its own thing. Walton's Fancy & Staple in the Warehouse District runs happy hour Thursday through Saturday from 5:30 to 7:30pm with $5 fancy snacks and $6 sips that punch above their price point.
The snack menu reads like someone actually thought about it: zucchini-squash cakes, ricotta thyme toast, pimento and cheese, fried artichoke hearts. These aren't afterthought bar bites. Pair them with a $6 Bourbon on 6th or a Peachy Keen and you've got a legitimate pre-dinner situation for under $15.
The space has vintage character that the Warehouse District could use more of. Walton's happy hour is a Thursday-through-Saturday-only window, which keeps it feeling like an event rather than a default. Show up, eat well, drink for $6, and remember that some of the best happy hour food in downtown Austin costs five bucks.
