Tuesday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m., happy hour keeps it simple: $4 cheeseburgers, $3.50 High Life, $4 Carl Kolsch, and $6 sangria. The adjacent HoldOut Brewery (same team) means you can wander between the two spots without losing momentum.

Better Half started as a coffee shop and still opens early, but the afternoon shift is where things get interesting. The space has this East Austin energy transplanted to the west side of town, casual and unpretentious with a crowd that skews toward people who live nearby.
